Riverside to Host USA Synchro’s 2019 US 13-15 and Junior Championship!

RIVERSIDE, CA (March 15, 2019) – The Riverside Sports Commission announced today that approximately 350 synchronized swimmers and over 50 support staff are arriving in Riverside as they prepare for the Junior 13 – 15 National Championships this April 10 – 14, 2019! Athletes, coaches, team managers, judges and officials from all over the US will converge in Riverside for the 5-day competition to be held at the Riverside Aquatics Complex on the campus of Riverside City College.

The Riverside Aquettes are proud to be the hosts of the competition in partnership with the Riverside Sports Commission.
“Organizing and managing this competition has been an exciting undertaking. Riverside is the ideal setting for this prestigious event and our goal to ensure that every detail is covered and the athlete’s well-being is given the utmost attention.” said Skyla Salisbury, Head Coach.

Amongst the teams arriving to compete, we are excited about welcoming back the USA National Team to our City! Representing TEAM USA: Emmanuella Tchakmakjian (New Canaan, Connecticut) - Team Captain; Abbygayle Remmers (Sugarland, Texas) - Team Captain; Anita Alvarez (Kenmore, New York); Ruby Remati (Andover, Massachusetts); Lindi Schroeder (Andover, Massachusetts); Daniella Ramirez (Miami, Florida); Paige Areizaga (Palm Coast, Florida); Maya Plotniskaya (Las Vegas, Nevada); Hannah Heffernan (Las Vegas, Nevada); Léane Capdeville (Nantes, France); Nicole Goet (San Jose, California).

“Reem and I are so excited to bring the team back to Riverside, where there are so many memories of Team USA. It is always a great opportunity to interact with so many other teams, athletes, coaches and judges in our organization. We are proud to present to the city of Riverside our new and revolutionary choreographies that will compete in The World Championships this summer and allow us to qualify for the Olympics in the Pan-American Games in July. It will be the first competition of the year for us, so will be a very important preparation for Team USA.” – Andrea Fuentes, Senior National Team Head Coach.

“I am really excited to be headed back to Riverside this spring! I began my first ever experience training with the US National Team down there (Summer of 2013) and I can’t wait to be back and reminisce on some great memories over the years. I have been fortunate enough to train and compete there multiple times in the past 6 years, including a Pre-Olympic training camp and competition in preparation for the Rio 2016 games! All of the facilities we have used over the years have been wonderful. Different pools, gyms, campuses, cafeterias, housing, etc… everything has always been available for us as we needed and allowed us to be able to focus solely on doing our job in the pool! And as a girl who grew up in Buffalo, New York… the weather is a huge bonus in my book too!????” – Anita Alvarez – 2016 Olympian / USA Senior National Team Member.

“Riverside holds many exciting and unforgettable memories for Team USA. The USA National Team is so excited to return after 3 gold medals and an unforgettable experience at the UANA championships in 2018. The facilities are unmatched which allowed all the athletes to compete at their highest level. We look forward to seeing all the amazing volunteers, athletes, coaches, and spectators for another exceptional visit.” – Abbygayle Remmers, USA Senior National Team Co-Captain.

“Riverside continues to support synchronized swimming with exceptional competition and training venues. In both competition and training settings, it proves to be the best synchro location in our country. We are so lucky to have the opportunity to train at the Aquatics Center, showcase our routines, and share our experiences with athletes all having the same love for the sport. This event will be incredibly rewarding in preparing us on our journey towards qualifying for the Olympic Games. We are so excited to share this moment with the synchro athletes, coaches, judges, and most of all the City of Riverside.” – Emmanuella Tchakmakjian, USA Senior National Team Co-Captain.
