Stuart, FL – May 5, 2019 As we speak Team IP’s corporate events division has ascended on the great state of Alaska for what is sure to be an event for the ages. Team IP was honored to be selected for the third year in a row by the National Veterans Golden Age Games as the exclusive provider for decorated event apparel, branded products, and e-commerce.
The National Veterans Golden Age Games is the premier senior adaptive rehabilitation program in the United States, and the only national multi-event sports and recreational seniors’ competition program designed to improve the quality of life for all older Veterans, including those with a wide range of abilities and disabilities. The VA Challenges and encourages senior Veterans to be proactive in embracing a healthier lifestyle, thus achieving the NVGAG “Fitness for Life” motto. The Games are open to Veterans, ages 55 or older, who receive health care from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
In 1985, the first NVGAG took place in Albany, GA with 115 competitors representing VA medical facilities across the United States. This outstanding program has grown from 115 competitors to almost 800 in previous years. Starting June 5th veterans from across the country will travel to Anchorage, Alaska to compete in one the 20 different sporting events offered by the NVGAG.
Competitive events include: air pistol, air rifle, badminton (singles and doubles), basketball (3- on-3, free throw), blind disc golf, boccia (singles and doubles), bowling, cycling, field (discus, javelin, shot put), golf, horseshoes, nine-ball, pickleball, power walk, shuffleboard, swimming, table tennis and track. Along with the sporting competitions, the annual National Veterans Golden Age Games Health & Wellness Expo is held in the opening days of the event. VA research and clinical experience verify that movement and exercise are particularly important to the health, recovery and overall quality of life for older Veterans and the expo is a great way to communicate that message.
“We encourage every veteran to embrace an active and healthy lifestyle and this annual event encourages participants to make physical activity a central part of their lives.”
Robert Wilkie | VA Secretary
“Honoring our veterans is at the root of so much of what we do here at Team IP. When the opportunity to partner with the NVGAG came along I knew it would be a perfect fit. The previous years in Mississippi and New Mexico were both great experiences and we are excited to travel to Anchorage in June.”
